Wayne Batchelor has a life-long love of teaching and works with several private students each week. He teaches both electric and upright bass and works with beginners and pros alike aged 8 to 80! He teaches both at people's apartments or music studios, and also teaches via Skype and FaceTime which have been a very successful way of easily reaching students anywhere in the world.
"I am sensitive to the goals and abilities of each student but always want to see them working on their technique to produce a great sound in tune and in time. I like to ground my students in the fundamentals of music-making so that their expression and style can flourish. I ensure that they have a regular practice schedule with new goals each week. I love to see their progress, and to help them gain confidence and command of their instrument. Ultimately I like to teach students to teach themselves; to overcome the problems and challenges posed by the music they want to play, using their own initiative." Wayne Batchelor

"Fantastic lesson!!! Wayne tailored the lesson to cover exactly what i wanted to learn!! Very patient. Consummate professional. Cant recommend him enough!! Looking forward to my next lesson!!" Rich P on November 9th, 2017 5/5 Stars
"My 10-year-old son started taking bass lessons from Wayne three months ago. I couldn't be happier with the progress he has made. Wayne has stressed how to properly squeeze each note, hold his fret hand and sit with correct posture. In addition my son is now reading basic sheet music. He also knows the names of most of the notes on his fretboard.
Wayne always provides music lessons that he writes out personally and also provides associated MP3 audio files. My son is able to practice the lesson along with an audio track that serves as reinforcement. Wayne even transcribed a song that could be played with the actual music track.
Wayne has an encouraging and positive attitude. There is a genuine excitement and passion in his teaching. I highly recommend him." Carter C on July 11th, 2017 5/5 Stars
"Wayne's passion is contagious. As both a gifted musician and a dedicated teacher, he is able to weave musical theory and technical craft into a holistic lesson without losing the feel for the instrument and music. As an adult student, I am grateful for his scheduling flexibility. I highly recommend him."

"Wayne provides my son with an hour a week of bass instruction and is professional, on time and gives sound advice (pardon the pun) on not only my son's approach to studying music, but his personal development as it pertains to discipline and dedication. I really appreciate his efforts and hope that his relationship with my son continues as he is a fantastic mentor! "
